संत ज्ञानेश्वर यांचा जन्म महाराष्ट्रातील औरंगाबाद जिल्ह्यातील आपेगाव येथे 1275 मध्ये झाला.त्यांच्या वडिलांचे नाव विठ्ठलपंत तर आईचे नाव रुक्मिणी असे होते. निवृत्तीनाथ व सोपानदेव हे त्यांचे बंधू. मुक्ताबाई ही त्यांची बहीण.संत ज्ञानेश्वरांच्या वडिलांनी संन्यास घेतलेला होता. घर सोडले होते, पण पुढे गुरूच्या आज्ञेवरून ते परत घरी आले आणि संसार करू लागले. पुढे त्यांना ही चार मुले झाली हे त्या वेळच्या कर्मठ लोकांना मान्य नव्हते त्यावेळचे कर्मठ लोक या मुलांना संन्यासाची मुले म्हणून नावे ठेवत लोकांनी त्यांना वाळीत टाकले टाकले होते, त्या मुलांचा छळ करत होते. ज्ञानेश्वर एकदा भिक्षेची झोळी घेऊन गावात गेले असता लोकांनी त्यांना भिक्षा घातली नाही. सगळीकडे त्यांना वेडेवाकडे बोलणे ऐकावे लागले याचे त्यांना खूप वाईट वाटले ते दार बंद करून ते आत दुःख करत बसले तेव्हा त्यांची बहीण मुक्ताई तेथे आली तिने ज्ञानेश्वरांना उपदेश केला बहिणीच्या उपदेशाने ज्ञानेश्वरांना हुरूप आला आणि दुःख विसरून ते कामाला लागले. ठिकाणी गोरगरिबांचा, मागासलेल्या लोकांचा धर्माच्या नावाखाली छळ होत होता तेव्हा ज्ञानेश्वरांनी लोकांना उपदेश केला. त्याकाळी ग्रंथाचे ज्ञान हे संस्कृत मध्ये होते सामान्य लोकांना त्यातले काही कळत नव्हते, सर्वसामान्यांसाठी ज्ञानेश्वरांनी मराठी भाषेतून 'ज्ञानेश्वरी' हा फार मोठा ग्रंथ लिहिला. आणि सर्वांना धर्माच्या ज्ञानाचे भांडार खुले करून दिले. संत ज्ञानेश्वरांनी भावार्थदीपिका म्हणजेच ज्ञानेश्वरी, चांगदेव-पासष्टी, अमृतानुभव, शेकडो मराठी अभंग, ज्ञानेश्वर हरिपाठ, स्फुटकाव्य असे अनेक ग्रंथ लिहिले.

संत नामदेवाच्या सोबतीने भागवत धर्माचा आणि वारकरी संप्रदायाचा प्रचार आणि प्रसार केला. "ईश्वरावर श्रद्धा ठेवा. सगळ्यांशी समतेने वागा. दुःखी माणसांना मदत करा, त्यांचे दुःख नाहीसे करा"असा कळकळीचा उपदेश त्यांनी केला. लोकांना बंधुभावाची शिकवण दिली. ज्ञानेश्वर आणि तरुण वयात 22व्या वर्षी पुण्याजवळील आळंदी येथे जिवंत समाधी घेतली आजही लाखो लोक मोठ्या भक्तिभावाने दरसाल आषाढी-कार्तिकीला आळंदी पंढरीला जातात.

Saint Dnyaneshwar

Saint Dnyaneshwar was born in 1275 at Apegaon in Aurangabad district of Maharashtra. His father's name was Vitthalpant and his mother's name was Rukmini. Nivruttinath and Sopandev are his brothers. Muktabai was his sister. Saint Dnyaneshwar's father had retired. He had left home, but later on the order of Guru, he came back home and started living. Later, the Karmaths of that time did not accept that they had four children. Once Dnyaneshwar went to the village with a begging bag, people did not beg him. He was very sorry that he had to listen to the madman everywhere. He closed the door and sat inside in grief. His sister Muktai came there. She preached to Dnyaneshwar. Dnyaneshwar preached to the people when the poor and backward people were being persecuted in the name of religion. At that time, the knowledge of the scriptures was in Sanskrit. The common people did not understand any of it. And opened the storehouse of knowledge of religion to all. Saint Dnyaneshwar wrote many books such as Bhavarthadeepika i.e. Dnyaneshwari, Changdev-Pasashti, Amritanubhav, hundreds of Marathi Abhangs, Dnyaneshwar Haripath, Sfutkavya.

 Along with Saint Namdeo, he propagated and spread Bhagwat Dharma and Warakari sect. "Have faith in God. Treat everyone equally. Help the miserable people, take away their sorrow," he preached. Taught people brotherhood. Dnyaneshwar and Samadhi at Alandi near Pune at the young age of 22. Millions of people still go to Alandi Pandhari every year on Ashadi-Kartiki with great devotion.
